Leroy scores a solid comeback to Loretta's complaint about Leroy's lack of persistence by referencing how he' still persistently trying to digest her terrible Thanksgiving dinner. On the surface this may appear to be just a straight up slight on Loretta's cooking but, on a deeper level, Leroy's line about still digesting the dinner is likely a more subtle coded message to Loretta. By "still digesting" he really means "still living despite" and by "Thanksgiving dinner" he means "countless attempts throughout our marriage to fatally poison me".
