Nobody really seems to win here. I guess on a broader level it may be commentary on Leroy's trademark cheapness, but I assume he's telling the truth when he says he didn't have the money. It is also doubtful that a pizza delivery driver who is exposed to pizza every day at work would ever accept another slice of pizza as a tip. The delivery person probably just wanted to leave after awkwardly finding himself in the middle of one of their spontaneous bitter shouting matches. I'm calling it a push.
Official Count:
Leroy - 5
Loretta - 5
Push - 2
Ah, see, I thought that Leroy surreptitiously ate one of the slices before Loretta could reach it. Didn't have enough for a tip? He's still putting money away in his wallet -- check out that glint of green! Even if it were only a dollar, wouldn't that be close enough monetarily to 1/6th of a pizza pie in whatever dreary suburb of a suburb this couple resides that the beleaguered delivery person would still accept it in lieu of a slice?
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps too many formative years of reading Garfield have led me to assume that all disappearances of tomato-and-mozzarella concoctions have ulterior appetite-related motives behind them.
This panel just brings up far too many questions.
