At what point over the past forty years has it ever been implied that Leroy was a "moneybags"? Was it during all those episodes of poor tipping at restaurants? Or was it when he got the meager paychecks from his dead end job? Maybe all those times he refused to give Loretta any money? Perhaps it's based on the fact that he's been wearing the same clothes day in and day out? It's really easy to drop punchlines on people when you totally make up the set up. While the sight of Leroy wistfully looking for change in the payphone is quite sad. The fact that he assumes people still use payphones is even sadder.
