Clockwise from the bottom left:
- Although technically Loretta is unaware of Leroy ignoring her to gaze at the nearby beach bimbo, I'm inclined to give him a point on this one. The scene is far too delicious a victory for Leroy for him to get denied a point on a technicality; additionally Loretta will become aware of her rejection within the next moment. It's a shame we don't get to see the distracted Leroy carelessly kick Loretta on the back with his massive feet as well. Leroy gets the point and stakes himself to the early 1-0 lead.
- I always find it ironic whenever Loretta makes fun of Leroy for being bad with money, given how her reckless spending is one of the reasons the Lockhorns are deeply in debt. Perhaps Leroy wouldn't have to resort to so many desperate money making schemes if Loretta hadn't bankrupted the household. Leroy really should take advantage of this fact and take more shots at Loretta for it. Also given the current dismal state of the Lockhorns' finances, shouldn't it be more like a "get-poorer-quick" scheme? Culpability aside, Loretta gets the point and ties things up 1-1.
- It's just another day at the office as Loretta lands one of her classic punchlines about Leroy's lack of intelligence. I have to give Loretta her due credit, it's the kind of solid, straightforward, professional put down that has won her the title every year since this blog started. That being said, I was more than a little distracted by the painting the Lockhorns' wall. I initially though it was of just a blank white circle, but now I'm starting to think it's a painting of an egg. Loretta gets the point and moves ahead 2-1.
- At least we know that driving while talking on the cellphone is not one of the causes of Loretta's frequent car crashes. This almost comes off as a positive statement about Loretta by Leroy, almost. Though there is some distance between Loretta and Leroy, I am going to assume Loretta heard Leroy's comments about her excessive devotion to talking on the phone. She is well within the area to overhear him. As for Leroy, he should consider moving to a spot not directly behind the car. Leroy scores the point and the day is tied 2-2.
- Sometimes, like in this scene, Leroy can own his cheapness and use it against Loretta. She could have said the same line that Leroy said and it would have been the point and match for her. Instead, Leroy beat her to the punch and now the line becomes a humiliating order for Loretta to use one of her handbags to steal buffet food. Leroy earns the point and pulls off the rare clutch victory and gets a much needed Sunday Showdown victory 3-2.
