Clockwise from the bottom left:
- For all the criticism Loretta gets for her poor driving, Leroy isn't all that skilled a motorist himself. Whenever the Lockhorns are pulled over for speeding or some other driving infraction, it is often Leroy that's behind the wheel. Still, constantly getting pull over by the police is much better than constantly getting into massive, fatal, car wrecks. Leroy should consider himself lucky here, by the enraged look on the trooper's face, he may have been one more insult away from shooting both Lockhorns and claiming self defense. It's a push, the score remains 0-0.
- Looking back over past Lockhorn panels, Loretta's claim that Leroy only comes to church twice a year is completely false. There are plenty of scenes of the Lockhorns being dysfunctional at church in any given year. Maybe she's referring to this specific church? Of course there's no reason why she wouldn't just make it up so the analogy to Leroy's lack of gym attendance would work; the truth is never an obstacle. Loretta picks up the point and takes a 1-0 lead.
- Based on their unusually surprised expressions, I'm going to assume this couple haven't met the Lockhorns before. Anyone with prior exposure to Leroy would know that his default mood is anger and unhappiness. I suppose the fact that they are willingly paying a call to the Lockhorns' home would also indicate a lack of prior experience with them. Come to think of it I imagine Leroy is pretty surly in his sleep as well. Loretta scores the point and leads 2-0.
- A swell burn on the wait times for automated phone systems (then again it's a machine, so what does it care), but it does nothing to help Leroy make up ground on Loretta. Loretta seems a little peeved at the lengths Leroy has gone in preparation for his call, however it's not quite enough to earn Leroy the point. I hope his handheld has a speaker phone button. It's a push which means Loretta clinches victory early with a 2-0 lead with one panel to go.
- Not one to rest on her laurels after wrapping up another Sunday victory, Loretta pours it on by mocking how much Leroy pours it out. It may have been the last, superfluous scene of the day but I admit that this is my favorite. I can almost hear the rimshot in the distance. I suppose one could also interpret Loretta's comment as saying that Leroy is descended from the House of Bourbon and is descended from Europeon royalty. Perhaps she should have gone with "rye"? Loretta gets the point and caps an utterly dominating performance 3-0.
